French Farm House Faux Finish at" Chrisy's Cottage"

Well I've been wanting to do this for a while. I love to paint artistically and I did a finish like this in my old house with the old sheet music. I took it one step further and took pre- mixed plaster and a putty knife and globed it on good along the edge of the music line, after gluing down the old sheet music. ( I use Watered down good ole ELMERS glue) I painted the wall an old world Grey. Then mixed up glazing compound mixed a few shades lighter then the Grey base color, rolled on speratically and took serran wrap and placed over that...wearing gloves and sort of mushed it, peeled off serran wrap for a wonderful plaster looking finish. The glazing compound mixes with the lighter paint( About half and half) Extends your working time. So you can do about a 4' x4' area at a time. Then I took a rusty yellow color and sponged around the edges to give it some depth... Voila have fun!!!! Faux finished right over the door so it would all blend together. Yes ,that's a door to a closet behind the ladder Close up of faux finished wall I did. The Lilacs will be blooming soon up here on the mountain. Yes, that's my beach bag. Yes another trip to Posies my new location in Arroyo Grande. Yes I had a BLAST as always.. I have my booth all ready for you girls and had fun helping Laurie and Tamie do the windows again.... All done up for Easter. The web site is coming along and hope to have some pics for you soon. I have always been in love with vintage clothes & the Victorian era. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong time. Thus Chrisy's Cottage Romantic Fashions & Accessories was born.It's Romantic enthusiasm and inspirations come from my heart and soul. Working in my shop brings out my inner passion and spirit, with a little dash of mystery and fantasy. I think of it some days as my giant playhouse. When I was a little girl my sister and I would spend hours creating huge doll houses out of cardboard, wash clothes and linens. When it was time to play with the dolls in them we would move on to our next childhood adventure making dolls out of acorns, hollyhocks and toothpicks. This is were my love of decorating began.From the time I was a baby my Mother and Grandmother would bring me along, while my sisters were at school to every Antique shop with in a 50 mile radius of Anoka Mn. My Mom always said my first word was (teaking) meaning antiquing. So I guess you could say It was in my genes from the very beginning. The world around me inspires me now. The kids are grown and I'm able to travel between two shops Posies in Arroyo Grande and Payson. The wonders of nature grab hold of me these days. The sky, ocean and the rolling hills and dells of our beautiful country. I see with an artist eye. A picnic on the beach can send me into a 3 day decorating frenzy.
